The Lily of the Valley, story of a French tradition

The Lily of the Valley, story of a French tradition

This is the 1st of May and for us, this day is about French & family traditions and about happy memories of a past gone, magically brought back by a simple yet so delicate smell.

The lily of the valley is a “Porte-Bonheur” symbol of Spring and happiness.

This French tradition of offering lily of the valley to your loved ones on the 1st of May dates from the XVIe century: In 1561, King Charles IX formalized this custom by deciding to offer each year on May 1st some Lily of the Valley to all the ladies of the court.
